Thought You Wanted To Know

Does Career Records accept submissions?

A: As you can see we already have a extensive roster, so it would be wildly optimistic of us to suggest that we will be signing any more artists in the near future. Still, the A&R department will gladly accept material for consideration. By nature we are curious beasts with open ears. We will try to listen to everything that comes our way. At the very least, you might get air time on KGLT-fm.

What sort of music is Career Records looking for?

A: We are not looking for a Radio Birdman tribute band, if that's what you mean. We have an open mind here, and will give most anything a spin. Something original is going to help. We have a small roster with some very good artists. Do you think you are up to these standards?

My band is working on a demos, can we send it to you?

A: When it's done. We have our hands full with our own works in progress here. There really isn't time for us to take on the task of helping you through your recording process.

In that case do Deniz or Ron take on outside production projects.

A: Denis has a very busy schedule, but will look at any serious proposals. Ron is avalable at GLEA as your engineer and/or producer. He will gladly travel anywhere in the world to work with you.

We have a finished album that we'd like you to hear. What should we send you?

A: A submission package should include 2 cd copies of your completed record. Finished art work helps give us an idea of your whole concept, but a mock up is good enough for our needs. A short bio is sufficent. No need for reams of press clippings, glossy 8x10's, or promotional frisbees. We are just going to use our ears in making any decision.

Make sure your cd is clearly labeled, and that it has your contact info on the disc. There are mountains of cds around the office, and another blank cd-r can easily get lost in the clutter.

It takes a while for us to listen to anything comes through and a copy has to wing it's way to Den in Australia. If either of us is has an opinion, it will be discussed. If we are curious, we will contact you.

I'm a journalist or a dj and want to be added to your mailing list to get promos.

We already have an extensive promo list. You are going to have to send us some documentation, examples of your writing, tear sheets or web links. If you work at a radio station, you will have to send us a link to the station's site and send us your play lists. If you are added to our list, you must keep in touch, and let us know about any reviews you have had published or any airplay. We cull our list every six months. If we haven't heard from you, we can not keep sending your promos that you are just going to sell on e-Bay.

I'd like to interview one of your artist, how do I get in touch with them.

A: Drop us a line, well in advance, and I'll direct your request to the artist. All the Career Artists will be glad to help out with any press efforts.

Where do I send my submission to and how can I contact the Career Records office?

A: Career Records, 424 North Fifth Ave, Bozeman, Montana 59715-3418 USA
