"ROY LONEY’S 30 year involvement in rock n’ roll continues with this very aptly titled album, his third with Seattle-based all-stars THE LONGSHOTS. It’s a hare-lipped, feverish celebration of all the trance-inducing things that once instilled fear into our grandparents."

"Woah, Roy's back with a solid smoker that could well be his most consistent album since "Out After Dark". "Shake It" runs a little over 36 minutes in total and leaves most collections I've heard recently in the dust. By the time we get to "The Great Divide", the patented jangle is hitting all the right spots...."

No one here speaks Swedish, so we tell you much, but this great looking three page color spread seems to be discussing Roy's career. L-P Anderson made the pilgramage to Jack's Record Celler to talk to Roy in the summer of 2006. He was also asked to name three fave songs... which include the original version of Real Wild Child, and Mickey Hawk's Bip Bop Boom. The Sonically Speaking compilation CD that accompanies the mag includes Great Divide from Shake It Or Leave It.

In another dimension far, far away, Roy Loney is a major star, a musician respected for both his seminal efforts and his continuing commitment to the cause. His tenure with the Flamin’ Groovies, a band that helped bridge the divide between ‘60s Brit rock and its retro revival, ought to have assured him enduring homage as a tireless champion of all things tagged rock ‘n’ roll...

Flamin’ Groovies founder Roy Loney’s 30-year solo career continues with his third album fronting the Seattle supergroup, The Longshots, featuring most of Terrastock alum, Young Fresh Fellows (Jimmy Sangster, Tad Hutchison, Scott McCaughey, the latter also splitting time from his recent R.E.M. duties), along with label mate Joey Kline, front man of The Plaintiffs. Toss in a Windbreaker (Bobby Sutliff), another Plaintiff (Richard Mockler) and the considerable talents of Career co-honchos Deniz Tek (Radio Birdman) and Ron Sanchez (from Terrastock pros, Donovan’s Brain).....

Even though Roy Loney parted company with the Flamin' Groovies in 1971 and his solo work has been sporadic ever since, the man remains a rock & roll howler of the first order...

The Barman - This is such a varied and wild trip it's hard to work out where to begin. It's like Roy Loney's coalesced 45 years of rock and roll and squeezed it all into one focussed, beguiling, compelling and head-spinning cocktail. Shaken AND stirred...
Ken Shimamoto - .......In a just universe, Roy Loney would be at least as well known as Nick Lowe, which is to say, less famous than Sir Mick Jagger, but more famous than the guy in the pub at the end of the street. From the Flamin’ Groovies on up to the present, his music has been imbued with a playful sense of fun that the Rawk can always use more of. Bless him.
