The Cast Roy Loney - acoustic
guitar and vocals Recorded and Compiled by RS The first collaboration between Roy Loney and the Seattle crew went out under the name Roy Loney And The Northwest Movers. The Young Fresh Fellows headlined, and the Squirrels joined them for some of the shows. The tour 30, January - The
Crocodile, Seattle The compilation tape I made after the tour, collects the best performance of every song played. I think battery failure meant the second night in Vancouver wasn't recorded. The set list is a collection of Groovies tunes, material from Roy's solo career and a few choice covers. By the time they played Garage Shock, they might have added some of the Full Grown Head material to the show, but at this point it was a deep look into the catalog. This is one of the few recordings of the original Longshots line up. The Live In Spain cd has the Mark 2 line up with Kevin Lee and Graham Black taking over the rhythm section. More songs from this tour and from later shows will be posted over the next few months. Please enjoy them while waitng for the new album. 17 July 2006 The second addition to the down load page, are three great covers the "Northwest Movers" were playing that tour. Have You Seen My Baby, the Randy Newman tune, was covered by the Groovies on the Teenage Head lp. Over the years this arrangement has become a sort of standard. Chuck Berry's great Bye Bye Johnny has never been recognized for the great song it is. The Stones covered it early in their career. I'd think Roy would be thinking of that nearly as much as the original. I don't think it's ever reappeared in the Longshots set. The first Them single was a cover of Slim Harpo's Don't Start Crying. Again this version owes much to that great cover version. The original was taken at a much slower tempo, unlike the rowdy Them version. This recording features Kurt Bloch on guitar, along with Jim Sangster. I believe it is the only time Kurt joined the band on stage. This actually may have been a Fellows encore, with Roy.... dig it.
