Since 1994, Deniz Tek has maintained a close friendship and alliance with Art and Steve Godoy. They have played together on many tours across the USA, and now are playing occasional shows and recording as "The Golden Breed", named for the 60's surf movie (suggested by Chris Knott of the Spectors). The identical twins Art and Steve are world famous as skateboard champions of the 80's, with international stardom. They remain legendary today in oldschool pool and halfpipe, but also are known as top class tattoo artists, and as founders of the feared and hated punk outfit "The Exploding Fuck Dolls". As the Golden Breed, Deniz teams up with Art and Steve in a power trio format playing basic no frills hard rock with a brutal rhythm section, loud electric guitar, and deceptively simple songs which often layer melody and unusual harmonic lines on top of the heavy undercurrent. Deniz' "rock and roll guitar player" style vocals are balanced by Art's more classic punk approach to the microphone. Their first album, Glass Eye World, is now complete, some tracks having been recorded live in the studio at Dave Weyer Systems and other tracks at GLEA and a studio in Vancouver. |
