-God's Little Ear Acre...

was established in 1989 as an 8-track analog recording facility.
In 1995 the Fostex G-16 was installed. At the end of 1996 GLEA was completely rebuilt,
adding more square footage, two isolation booths, and a live echo chamber.
Over the Summer of 2004, GLEA underwent another major upgrade.
A new computer and mixing desk were installed. GLEA is now a digital-analog hybrid studio.

It was decided earlier this year that is was time to join the modern world and choose a digital recording system for GLEA. On the advice of Vince Sanchez, a Mac based DAW using MOTU hardware and DP5.12 software was installed. This choice offers compatibility with several other popular digital systems including ProTools.

A new mixing desk was needed to handle the 32 ins and outs from the computer. The twenty year old, twenty input Tascam desk was not up to the task. A 32 input Soundcraft Ghost was always the first choice. This ultimately meant rewiring the studio and installing a new patchbay.

After three weeks of nonstop construction, the Plaintiffs flew in from Seattle for the first session. The results were stunning. All the bugs have now been untangled and GLEA is back in service.

GLEA has a large selection of microphones. The main condenser vocal mic is an Audio Technica 4033. Besides the standard compliment of Shure SM-57's and SM-58'swe have an interesting collection that includes AKG, Sennheiser, Peavey, and Audio Technicas. There are a few odd crystal mics in the cabinet for that special sound.

The Roland Space Echo and the ART 700 are employed as the tape delay to the echo chamber.

GLEA can supply all the instruments needed for any style of music.

Drum set: Tama Swingstar

Amplifiers: Marshall 50w, Musicman HD2-10, Tweed Bassman reissue, as well as a curious selection of vintage tube amps.

Guitars and Basses: Rickenbacker: 4001; Fender: Tele, Strat, XII, Jazzmaster; Gibson-'59 Les Paul Special, and various SGs and a Epiphone Casino.

"There is a Martin D-15 acoustic and a Yamaha. If you dig deeper in the closet you can find any number of original Danelectros, Harmonys and a few other oddities.
